The first visit is a casual meet-and-greet for you, your child, and the dentist. Our goal is to establish a relationship with your child and a relationship with you. This first visit may involve education and information about dental care, exploring the “dental friends/ instruments”, and a look at your child’s oral cavity. Our approach is at the level of the child and incorporates “FUN” in all aspects. We also believe in the TEAM approach which means you, your child, the dentist, and dental team all working together to achieve oral health.
If your child cries a little or wiggles during the visit, don’t worry. It’s normal, and your dental team understands this is a new experience for your child! There are no expectations for your child or you.
Recommendations for your First Visit:
- Schedule your appointment when your child is well rested and ready to play, which is typically the morning time. Appointments scheduled near or during naptime are more difficult for your child than anyone.
- Schedule your appointment after a meal, such as breakfast and not near a meal, such as lunch time as hunger can create unwarranted behavior.
- This experience is meant to be FUN and stress-free for all. If your child becomes upset during the visit, we will work as a TEAM to calm and comfort your child.
