To ensure treatment is effective yet safe and stress-free, we use the industry’s most advanced technology, including laser dentistry. Lasers are recognized by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as beneficial dental tools for performing restorative and soft tissue procedures on children and individuals with special needs.
Introducing Solea®
The Solea® dental laser is a safe, effective tool we use in the office for many procedures to create a more relaxing and positive experience for your child. Noises from dental tools can be unsettling, but the Solea laser is quiet and does not vibrate, resulting in less sensory stimulation.
The laser is able to gently treat teeth and gingival tissue, allowing many children to have procedures comfortably completed without the need for additional anesthesia.
How Does Solea® Work?
Solea® is a CO2 laser that uses a precise wavelength to safely and effectively vaporize enamel and carefully cut hard and soft tissue. It can easily be maneuvered to work in even the smallest mouths from a variety of angles. We are able to use the Solea laser for a wide range of procedures, from treating cavities to releasing tongue or lip ties.
Dr. Lisa introduces your child to the laser in a fun and non-intimidating way so that they are more relaxed when it comes time to start the procedure. The advantage of using the laser is that it can provide an analgesic effect that comforts the patient during treatment. In doing so, your child can often return to school or home without numbness or tingling in their mouth from local anesthesia typically given. Occasionally, additional anesthesia is needed, and that too is achieved in a comfortable manner.
Laser technology can be a great option if your child is anxious about treatment or sensitive to sensory stimulation. Dr. Lisa will let you know if the Solea® dental laser may be a good fit for your child’s dental care needs.
